scholarships

Students are recognized for academic, leadership, extra-curricular accomplishments, and their involvement in and dedication to the Swartz Creek community.

 

To be eligible, students must attend or have previously attended Swartz Creek Community Schools or live in the Swartz Creek school district. Must carry a minimum of 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 point scale, be a U.S. citizen, and plan on attending or currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school.

​

Two $500 scholarships are awarded each year.

 The Jentery Farmer Scholarship

 

One of our Hometown Days family members, Jentery Farmer, passed away Saturday April 24th, 2021. He was 27. Jentery started volunteering with Hometown Days in high school and continued with the festival for over 10 years. Jentery was easy 

to spot at the festival because he always had a big smile and would lend a hand to anyone who would need assistance. He

was a Special Events and Business Development Manager for John P. O'Sullivan Distributing, Inc,  He served on the Swartz Creek City Council and the  Swartz Creek Planning Commission. Jentery was dedicated to serving his community. In his honor, Swartz Creek Hometown Days will grant a $500 scholarship in his name.

 The Mike Treiger Scholarship​​​

​

​Mike Treiger was a long time Hometown Days family member, who passed away on June 19, 2024. He was 56. Mike first started volunteering with Hometown Days many years ago by helping to set up the festival from planning and organizing the grounds, the electrical, and assisting where needed. Mike also served the community for 15 years as part of the Swartz Creek Fire Department and was actively involved with the Sons of the American Legion. Mike was very dedicated to serving his community. In his honor, Swartz Creek Hometown Days will grant a $500 scholarship in his name.
